Pandora's Lament, History Part I

Sat Dec 1, 2007, 7:55 AM
I thought I'd give some history into the Poena and Andarta characters from my comic, Pandora's Lament.
Poena (also called Poine) is a character I took from Roman Mythology. She was the "spirit" of punishment (and in fact was the attendant of punishment to Nemesis, the Goddess of Divine Retribution), and that's where my comic diverges from actal mythology; in the comic's history, Poena is actually a blend of the Greek Poena and the Nordic God of Mischief, Loki. My Poena tends to get herself into trouble and was actually banished from Heaven for commiting acts that were deemed, in divine decree, heresies by the oldest demigod, Dagda (who fathered both of these deities). Interestingly, there was a good reason for commiting the acts, but that's closely tied to the plot of Pandora's lament and I don't want to spoil it.
When Poena was condemned to burn in Hell by Dagda, she staged an insurgency in the spirit realm against the demigod council, which was stupendously quashed by Andarta. Defeated and humiliated, Poena snuck out of the spirit realm, with some help, and hid in the astral realm, plotting her own [somewhat diabolical] retribution.
Andarta, on the other hand, comes from Celtic mythology; she's considered to be among the most powerful warrior goddesses and played a major role in ousting the original Fallen from the spirit realm during the Ethereal Wars. She's curried alot of favor from her father, Dagda, for protecting his throne in Heaven, as well as helping to bring order to the astral and mortal realms. Andarta and her half-sister Poena have alot of contempt for each other, since they represent entirely different sides of the "moral spectrum". Andarta is strong, reserved, proper and, above all, obediant to authority.
Poena is much different -- promiscous, contemptuous toward any structured authority, clever and often conniving. But, you can be absolutely sure that every action she takes has a specific and planned meaning, be it good or bad.

That's it for now; so, enjoy,

DA and TOU

Mon Nov 12, 2007, 9:41 AM
Deviant Art took down 'Nefarious Steward' a few days ago and I've been a little ticked about the whole situation -- not because it was taken down, as I expected it might happen; it's because I can't seem to find a specific list of violations. The Terms of Service dictated during posting is the closest guideline I could find; under Section 19 § b:
"to upload, post, or otherwise transmit any material that is obscene, offensive, blasphemous, pornographic, unlawful, threatening, menacing, abusive, harmful, an invasion of privacy or publicity rights, defamatory, libelous, vulgar, illegal or otherwise objectionable;" is a violation of the DA TOU.
However, this covers some 95% of the works found on DA!
GRRRR...
I wonder if they have a list or they're just playing by ear?

That unpleasantness aside, I hope you'll all take a look at the teaser from the book I've been writing simply titled 'Sophia'; I'm REALLY hoping to get some feedback and constructive criticism on it.
Additionally, I'm working on the last frames of the first scene of Chapter 1 of "Pandora's Lament", which include the fight frames and a little whipping scene I think alot of you will like -- so, stay tuned :D

Poser 7 crashed AGAIN today; this time it corrupted the MBRs on its residing drive. Luckily, it would seem I'm smarter than E Frontier, since I gave Poser its own drive recently (which means I only lost Poser stuff). In fact, I only lost a little time and 1 scene, since I also backed up the whole program directory on another drive yesterday.
I only have about 3 scenes left to render for Chapter 1, then I have post work. Hopefully, I can upload the chapter by the weekend -- but, if Poser keeps corrupting, I may have to work on a new strategy.
BTW, I recently did a query of my picture drive -- I am now the proud owner of 133,338 files spanning 16.9 GB -- woo hoo!
